Breezair: One of the World’s Quietest and Most Energy-efficient Evaporative Coolers

Breezair is a brand of evaporative coolers made by Seeley International. Breezair offers advanced cooling technology, remarkable efficiency, and outstanding performance for residential and light commercial installations.

What is an Evaporative Cooler?

Evaporative coolers pull in dry air and move it over water-moistened cooling pads where water is then evaporated into the air, making the air about 15 or 20 degrees cooler than it’s supply air.

Designed for the environmentally and energy conscious consumer, evaporative coolers use nature’s refrigerant –water– to cool, unlike other air conditioners that use chemical refrigerants.

The evaporative cooling process relies on airflow. Only 100% fresh, filtered air is circulating, rather than recycled air. Dry air from chemically refrigerated air conditioners can aggravate allergies and asthma. Evaporative air conditioning systems use moisture to cool the air and won’t dry your skin, nose or eyes.

How Evaporative Coolers Work

  1. Hot air is sucked into the evaporative cooler via an inflow fan.
  2. This air is passed over water-saturated pads.
  3. Water in the pads evaporates as warm air hits the pads.
  4. The air is instantly cooled by the evaporated water, usually up to 15 or 20 degrees cooler.
  5. Outflow fans push the cold air out of the evaporative cooler, cooling your surroundings.

Breezair vs Other Evaporative Coolers

Breezair has a patented inverter technology, an advanced water management and distribution system, and superior Chillcel pads for greater cooling capacity. They are easily the quietest running and most energy-efficient evaporative cooler on the market.

Breezair is also the world’s first Inverter evaporative cooler, and that means lower energy usage and operating costs. Seeley International compares annual running costs for residential A/C in the US, showing how Breezair is significantly lower in cost to operate than even a high-efficiency ducted A/C, and lower still than other standard evaporative coolers:

Costs for a Breezair

Professionally installed Breezair evaporative coolers cost between $5-6K, depending on the make, size, type and placement. You’ll also need winterization and turn-on maintenance each year, which B. Carlson provides for an additional, nominal fee.

Hiring a reputable evaporative cooler installation company, like B. Carlson, with lots of good Google reviews will help you have peace of mind and a mostly trouble-free ownership experience. There is a lot that can go wrong with the installation, and correcting problems and fixing damage from poor install jobs can be more expensive than what you saved by hiring a mediocre company.

Things to Consider About a Breezair

Unlike other evaporative coolers, Breezair has a pre-wet function that allows the pads to be fully saturated before the fan comes on, so only cooled air enters the home. In addition, Breezair offers an industry-leading comprehensive guarantee program:

– 25-year Permatuf polymer cabinet
– 10-year cover on all structural components
– 5-year warranty on Chillcel Pad delamination
– 3-year warranty on the pump and motor

The single biggest disadvantage of Breezair and– in fact– all, evaporative coolers is their dependence on a constant supply of fresh air. Without fresh air, the air in the room will become damp, the cooling effect will be reduced, and eventually stop completely. Condensation and mold growth could be a real concern.

Rounding out the disadvantages, however, come all the pros to evaporative coolers. According to the US Department Of Energy, “evaporative coolers cost about one-half as much to install as central air conditioners and use about one-quarter as much energy.”
