As New Mexico’s largest electricity provider, PNM offers a range of rebates that provide you with energy savings no matter what the elements throw your way.

What are PNM rebates?
In a nutshell, these are programs that reward PNM customers for making energy efficient choices. While there are many money-saving programs available through PNM, we find that our customers get the most value out of two rebates: the PNM Power Saver program and PNM cooling rebates.
1. The PNM Power Saver program
The PNM Power Saver program is for PNM customers that use refrigerated air conditioning or heat pumps. When you participate in the Power Saver program, you’re helping to reduce electric usage during peak demand times. You’ll be able to control your thermostat as usual, but when the demand for energy is high – say, when the weather is hottest on a summer day – your air conditioner or heat pump will automatically go into conservation mode. This only occurs for a short period of time, so there’s no need to worry about your house becoming uncomfortable during extreme weather. You’ll receive a $75 check for signing up, as well as an annual $25 check for each year you participate in the program.
2. PNM cooling rebates
PNM cooling rebates are for PNM customers who use evaporative cooling systems in their home. Evaporative cooling is an eco-conscious choice, especially in Albuquerque’s dry climate. PNM wants to make it easier for customers to purchase, install, and use this equipment. PNM offers rebates of up to $300 for large evaporative cooling units, which are usually installed on the roof of your home, and rebates of up to $150 for window-mounted evaporative cooling units. There are restrictions on which units qualify, so be sure that you’ve purchased a qualifying model if you’d like to take advantage of these rebates.
Do I qualify for a rebate?
While you won’t qualify for every rebate that PNM offers, there’s likely to be one that works for you. It’s important to know what kind of heating and cooling system you have – the rebates that are available to you depend on whether you have a heat pump, central air conditioning, or an evaporative cooling system. How does it work?
The best way to get started is to schedule a free home energy checkup. During your home energy checkup, a PNM energy specialist will evaluate how you use energy and how your home’s heating and cooling system performs. Once they’ve analyzed that information, they’ll recommend energy-saving devices, as well as share the rebate options that you qualify for. Once you’ve determined the right rebate option for your home, you’ll apply through PNM. These rebate programs are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. If you miss out on this year’s rebate, not to worry – rebate programs that reach capacity are usually resumed in the following calendar year.
